"The Insurance Godfather - THE STORY"
From warships to boardrooms, from failure to freedom — this is how I rebuilt my life, and why I nowBefore We Begin… Maybe You Shouldn’t Be Here
Let’s be honest — I might not be the advisor for you.
1. If you’re looking for a get-rich-quick scheme
I don’t do hype. I don’t sell crypto dreams or shortcut solutions. I believe in disciplined, long-term financial planning
that works in the real world — not the Instagram version of it.
2. If you want the cheapest insurance with zero questions asked
You’ll always find someone cheaper. But when life hits hard, cheap plans don’t show up. I don’t chase low premiums — I chase value that protects your life, income, and dreams.
3. If you think you’re too young or too healthy to worry about this.
That’s what I thought once too — until I learned the hard way.
If you have people who depend on you, or goals you’ve worked hard for…
then you need to protect them today, not someday.

Let’s Start With a Little Honesty…
I always find the “About Me” sections on websites amusing.
They’re usually written in the third person — “Dr. Sijo Mathews is an award-winning financial advisor…”
— even though the person writing it is, well… the person it’s about.
I tried that too. Sounded smarter. Looked more polished. But it didn’t feel like me.
So here’s the truth — this isn’t a résumé. It’s a letter to a friend. If you’ve landed here, you’re likely wondering one thing:
“Is this guy for real? Is he worth my time?”
For many of you, my answer is “no.”
But for the ones who truly care about building something long-term, protecting their income, planning smart —
then maybe… just maybe, this page is exactly where you need to be.
Who Am I, Outside the Titles?
As of the most recent update to this site, I’m 53 years old, based in Dubai, and married to Vineetha —
a woman with a heart so big, it comes with its own cat population.
We live with a crew that keeps life entertaining:
Simba, our golden retriever, who thinks he’s in charge
Muffin, a King Charles Spaniel — small in size, big in attitude, and absolutely convinced the world revolves around him
Kiara, Jack, Jill, and Jerry — our feline residents who rule the house
And a rotating cast of rescue cats sunbathing on the lawn and occasionally auditioning for relocation inside or adoption.
When I’m not working, I’m usually lost in war strategy, crime fiction, crisis management,
And yes — self-help and training books too, so I can (try to) speak the language of Gen Z… or Millennials…
or whatever they’re calling themselves this week.
You’ll often find me assembling model warships with the focus of a naval commander…
or mixing music in my self-declared home studio, performing for an exclusive live audience of six.
(That would be Simba, Muffin, Kiara, Jack, Jill, and Jerry — all loyal, all judgmental, and none impressed.)
I love a good story — especially the ones with a twist.
And I believe your financial story deserves a better ending than most people get.
Oh, and the credentials? I’ve earned a few:
MDRT Life Member
TOT (Top of the Table) qualifier
Honorary Doctorate in Financial Planning & Wealth Management
Co-author of the book “The Financial Advisor’s Blueprint for Success” — a privilege extended to me by some of the finest mentors at MDRT
I’m also actively spreading financial awareness across my social media platforms —
Short videos, real stories, and sometimes even humor — to make insurance, savings, and smart planning more relatable for everyone.
No cape. No gimmicks. Just practical advice, earned through experience — and delivered with heart.
Chapter 1: The Navy Taught Me More Than Discipline
I joined the Indian Navy at 17.5 — mostly because I wanted to see the world.
And I did… mostly through a porthole.
I spent 15 years proudly serving my country — learning structure, discipline, and what it truly means to protect others.
I also learned to assess risk, lead under pressure, and survive on questionable coffee.
Did I say the life was easy?
Well, I’m allowed to lie once in a while — But God promise - yes I was in uniform.
But those years shaped everything that came after.
They gave me my first real currency: responsibility, clarity, and resilience. — the same traits I bring into my work today as a financial advisor.
Chapter 2: I Rose Fast. And Fell Harder.
After retiring, without tiring, I chased my entrepreneurial dreams — first with a non-veg restaurant in a vegetarian neighborhood (yes, really), then expanding to a chain of bakeries.
It worked — for a while. I scaled fast. Made money. Gained popularity.
But I trusted people too easily. I signed handshake deals. No paperwork. No contracts. And when it all came crashing down, I was left with mounting debt and nothing to show for it.
Chapter 3: I Turned My Pain Into Purpose
What followed was a different kind of calling — I partnered with British filmmaker David Browne,
creating documentaries on female infanticide, honor killings, and child prostitution.
The work was dangerous, emotional, and often brutal. But it reminded me:
Protection isn’t just financial. It’s deeply human.
That shaped how I saw risk, vulnerability, and the importance of being prepared when life doesn’t go to plan.
Chapter 4: Dubai Wasn’t My Dream — It Was My Lifeboat
In 2010, I came to Dubai not to build wealth, but to pay off debt.
No contacts. No connections. Just experience, humility, and a confidence that I could rebuild.
And I did — one client at a time.
Today, I’ve helped over 400 families across the UAE, GCC, and India plan for:
Life Insurance & Critical Illness cover
Income Protection for self-employed or salaried expats
Children’s University Savings Plans
Retirement & Wealth Planning
Health cover for aging parents in India
Group and corporate insurance for startups and SMEs
Chapter 5: Why Clients Call Me “The Insurance Godfather”
Because I don’t talk like a banker.
I don’t pitch products.
I protect people like I protected my men in the Navy — with seriousness, honesty, and clarity.
Here’s how I work:
I won’t sell you what you don’t need.
I’ll help you make smarter decisions with what you already earn.
I won’t scare you into action — I’ll educate and empower you instead.
And if that means I lose the sale? So be it.
This is not a transaction. It’s a lifelong plan.
Let’s Talk — Like Friends, Not Clients
If you’ve been procrastinating about insurance or saving…

Just a 20-minute chat that could give you peace of mind for the next 20 years.
Because your future deserves better than guesswork.
And I’ll help you plan it — like a Godfather would.
